As many fleet managers know, maintaining and keeping up to date with the servicing of fleet vehicles is not an easy task. This can be made difficult as different manufacturers of vehicles require their vehicles to be serviced at different intervals. In addition, companies that have a high turnover of vehicles and are replacing them throughout the year may have an extra challenge on their hands.

The problem is that if a vehicle fails to meet its service intervals as set out by the manufacturer then it can lead to the manufactures warranty being invalidated should and faults or problems arise with the vehicle. Should a problem occur then the cost of repair can be substantial, effectively losing the company money.

In addition, many companies choose to lease their vehicles over a relatively short period, for example, one to three years. Vehicle lease companies often set an annual mileage limit for vehicles. Should a vehicle exceed this annual lease then they will be charged on a per mile basis, normally around four to six pence per mile. Again, this can lead to significant losses when this happens across an entire fleet.
