Vehicle Tracking Can Be Used to Motivate Drivers |
| October, 2009 | |
It is a common concern for many companies that their employees will have strong objections to a vehicle tracking system being introduced. A vehicle tracking system benefits multiple departments within a business including managers, the office team and the drivers themselves.
Many drivers object to tracking because they are not aware of the business benefits it has to offer. Employers have found that informing their employees about the tracking system and explaining the business benefits and its intended use, puts employees at ease.
If an employee is doing what they are supposed to be and working hard than they should not have an objection to tracking as the system will serve to acknowledge their good performance.
The tracking system generates reports which details driver/vehicle activity and performance. Managers are able to use these reports to produce league tables for their drivers, rewarding those with the best performance. The performance criteria can include: number of site visits, daily start and finish times and fuel efficiency (lowest speeding and idling) to name a few. These reports not only acknowledge the hard working drivers but also motivate all drivers to work to their best levels.
Companies using the tracking system for this purpose have noticed a marked improvement in the overall performance and productivity of their drivers.
